Fain and United States Army Reserve Sergeant First Class Walter Antonio Moore had a beautiful son named Tyson Moore-Fain. Now, Moore-Fain is a kind 15-year-old soon to be sophomore in high school. Moore-Fain enjoys sports, school and has an incredibly close relationship with his mother. He went through a tough time after losing his father. For any child, the absence of a parent can be quite difficult to deal with, especially at a young age.
In that difficult moment, Fain did what any mother would do, and she sought help. One night Fain turned to the internet searching for answers and that is where she found the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, known as TAPS. This program helps families of fallen military members providing them with 24/7 support through a peer network and grief resources. When Fain reached out, she had no idea what this journey would look like, but TAPS stepped in and helped provide her with resources she could use to better help her son.
“I found TAPS, a couple of years ago,” Fain shared. “I was on the internet searching for resources for Tyson because he was going through depression. I found TAPS and I reached out to them. I can call them, and someone always answers the phone. If they can't get me in touch with the person that I need to speak with, they'll call me back right away.”
