The Golden Spike

One of our best traditions, the Golden Spike was born in 2017. Atlanta's homegrown icons kicked off the match by driving home the symbolic spike. The first year of the Golden Spike, in pictures:

The Atlanta recording artist drove home the first spike in Atlanta United history before the Red Bulls match.

Staying with the local music theme, Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan drove home the second spike before the home match against the Chicago Fire.

Vic beasley

Showing solidarity for his city, Atlanta Falcons defensive standout Vic Beasley stepped up to drive the Spike against D.C. United.

Tiffany hayes

Tiffany Hayes, captain of the WNBA's Atlanta Dream, represented the A-T-L before the memorable match against the Houston Dynamo.

Major general joe jarrard

A valued member of the military and leader of the Georgia National Guard, Major General Joe Jarrard was honored before the match against New York City FC

Atlanta Hawks star Dennis Schroder went back to his German roots to enjoy an Atlanta United game and hit the Golden Spike before the match against the Rapids.

Aliphine Tuliamuk

The winner of the Peachtree Road Race Elite Women's Division, Aliphine Tuliamuk, drove home the Golden Spike on July 4th against the San Jose Earthquakes.

To cap off Atlanta United's memorable stay at Bobby Dodd Stadium, local hip hop artist Metro Boomin drove home the spike before the home matchup against Orlando City.

zac brown

Atlanta United's home match against FC Dallas marked a special day in the history of the club as it moved into the brand new Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Local country icon Zac Brown showed up for the historic occasion.

waka flocka

One of the club's biggest fans from the beginning, local hip hop artist Waka Flocka hammered home the golden spike before the memorable midweek match against the New England Revolution.

arthur blank

Atlanta United set the all-time MLS regular season single-match attendance record against Orlando City on September 16th, and the fans were able to show their appreciation to team owner Arthur Blank in a big way.

Local hip hop artist Archie Eversole came up with the unofficial Atlanta United fan anthem "we ready", so he was perfectly prepared to get the fans hyped before the home match against the L.A. Galaxy

muna ahmed

Muna Ahmed helped launch the club's Unite & Conquer Cancer Campaign, so there was no better person to drive home the spike and wrap up Kick Childhood Cancer month at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

One of the centerpieces of the Atlanta Braves dynasty of the 1990's, Andrew Jones showed up to represent the Braves before the Philadelphia Union match.

To say thank you to our incredible Founding Member season ticket base, one lucky supporter got to drive home the spike in front of a sold-out Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
